Duck for Life supporting safety initiatives in local schools
DAVENPORT, IOWA JUNE 20, 2019 – The Duck for Life event raises funds to support school safety projects through an annual rubber duck race event. This year the rubber duck race will be held on Saturday July 14th at noon. Starting line for the race is Duck Creek at Junge Park, 301 W 35th St, Davenport, IA. The concept was developed by three graduates of the QC Leadership Academy; Joshua Lighton, Jon Davidshofer and Anthony Heddlesten. Like many across the country, they are concerned about the violence occurring within schools and felt a need to do something about it. They came up with a simple, once-a-year fund raising event to promote safe schools in the Quad Cities. Citizens may purchase a duck for $5 or three ducks for $10. On July 13th, 2019 all the purchased ducks will race down Duck Creek in Davenport, Iowa. The goal is to raise $3000 that will be distributed to one or more schools needing financial assistance for the completion of a school safety project. Each duck is assigned a number and the duck to cross the finish line first can win a cash prize up to $500. Ducks are available for purchase up until the day of the race. Pete the Purple Bull is excited to present and grow this program because the purpose of Duck for Life is to keep local children safe. Pete the Purple Bull is a fun-loving, friendly bull with an anti-bullying message. Pete believes all children deserve the right to live in a safe and welcoming environment.
