A Look at Local Leaders: A QCLA Spotlight Featuring Cathie Carber

Today, we hear from QCLA Graduate of 2018, Cathie Carber about her experience participating in the Quad City Leadership Academy.

“The public speaking class was a great experience and I came away with more confidence in my public speaking ability.  The various speakers that were brought in for each meeting were inspirational and motivating.”

Where were you when you started QCLA and where are you now?

When I started at QCLA I was still the VP Controller at QCR Holdings as I am now but I now supervise an employee and will be supervising more in the near future.

How did your QCLA experience impact you?

The QCLA experience was a great experience as it provided valuable insight as to how different people have different personalities and leadership styles and understanding those styles as I move forward in my career will make me a better leader and team player.  The public speaking class was a great experience and I came away with more confidence in my public speaking ability.  The various speakers that were brought in for each meeting were inspirational and motivating.

Why would you encourage someone to sign up for this program?

I would encourage someone to sign up for the program because it provides valuable knowledge in understanding your own leadership style and the strengths you can draw from that as well as developing a better understanding of the personality styles of others and how you can adjust your leadership skills to draw the most from your employees.

Thank you, Cathie, for sharing your experience with us. If you would like to join the 2019 Quad City Leadership Academy, contact Amy or Shari or call the Marketing Office at 563-359-1099.
